1. Joseph is a man from Africa who Benethea met at school.
2. Ruth found out that she is two months pregnant.
3. His present of Nigerian clothing and music is appropriate because it is from his country and he obviously cares about her very much.
4. The nickname that he calls her is appropriate because it is a meaningful nickname which means “One for Whom Bread—Food—Is Not Enough.”
5. Mama says that Ruth shouldn't get an abortion because it is not right and dangerous for Walter to just think that Ruth wouldn't do it but really she would.
6. She went to the abortion place to get an abortion and she had already but a down payment on it.
7. Mama called Walter that because he wasn't caring for Ruth and he wouldn't tell Ruth not to get an abortion because Mama thinks that it isn't right.
